Salah — Prayer Times, Qibla & Dhikr
Effective Date: April 28, 2026
Last Updated: April 28, 2026
At Salah, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information the Salah mobile application collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. Salah is designed to be a peaceful, anonymous prayer companion: there is no account to create, no profile to upload, and your location stays on your device.
1. Summary in plain language
- Salah does not require an account or sign-in.
- Your location is used only on your device to compute prayer times and qibla direction. It is never uploaded to our servers.
- Your selected city is sent to the Diyanet (Republic of Türkiye, Presidency of Religious Affairs) public prayer-time API to fetch the daily schedule.
- Anonymous crash reports and aggregate analytics are sent to Google Firebase to help us fix bugs and improve the app. You can opt out in Settings.
- Free-tier users may see banner ads from Google AdMob. You can choose between personalized and non-personalized ads.
- All notifications and prayer reminders are scheduled and delivered locally on your device.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Choose to Share
- Selected City: When you choose a city (e.g. İstanbul, Ankara), the app sends the corresponding city identifier to the Diyanet public prayer-time API to retrieve the daily schedule. The city you pick is stored locally on your device.
- App Settings: Theme, language, notification toggles, adhan voice, reminder offset and dhikr counters are stored only on your device using the operating system's standard preference storage (DataStore on Android, NSUserDefaults on iOS).
- Device Location (optional, on-device only): If you grant location permission, your latitude and longitude are read on your device to compute the qibla bearing toward the Kaaba. Coordinates are never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
2.2 Information Automatically Collected
- Device Information: Device model, operating system version, app version and language — collected for crash diagnostics and analytics.
- Crash Data: When the app crashes, an anonymous report is sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix the bug.
- Aggregate Analytics: Anonymous usage events (e.g. “qibla screen opened”, “dhikr completed”) are sent to Firebase Analytics to help us understand which features are used. You can disable this in Settings → Share anonymous usage data.
- Advertising Identifier (IDFA / GAID): With your permission (the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS, or Google's ad-personalization control on Android), Google AdMob may read your advertising identifier to show personalized ads. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your device settings or in the app's Settings screen.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Service Delivery: Compute prayer times for your city, render the qibla compass, schedule local prayer reminders.
- App Improvement: Diagnose crashes (Firebase Crashlytics) and understand aggregate feature usage (Firebase Analytics).
- Advertising: Show banner ads on the Home, Calendar and Settings screens via Google AdMob. With your consent we may show personalized ads; otherwise only non-personalized ads are shown.
- Customer Support: Respond to questions or feedback you send to pixip@pixip.tech.
4. Notifications
If you enable prayer reminders, the app schedules local notifications using Android's AlarmManager and iOS's UNUserNotificationCenter. Reminders are computed and fired entirely on your device — we do not run a notification server, and your reminder schedule is not uploaded.
5. Advertising and Tracking
This app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob (Google LLC). To show relevant ads, Google AdMob may collect and use your advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) along with general device information.
- On iOS: Before any tracking, the app shows the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. If you grant permission, personalized ads may be shown. If you decline, only non-personalized ads are shown and your IDFA is not used for ad targeting.
- On Android: You can opt out of personalized ads via Google Settings → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization, or in Salah's Settings screen.
- What AdMob may collect: Advertising identifier, IP address, device information and app interaction data, for the purpose of serving and measuring ads.
- For details, see Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy and AdMob policies at support.google.com/admob.
6. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell, trade or rent personal information. Salah shares data only with the third-party providers listed below, and only to the extent necessary to deliver the app's features:
6.1 Third-Party Service Providers
- Diyanet İşleri Başkanlığı — Ezan Vakti API (Republic of Türkiye, Presidency of Religious Affairs) — receives only the city identifier you select; returns the daily prayer-time schedule. No personal data is transmitted.
- Google Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — anonymous crash reports. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) — anonymous aggregate usage events. Optional; can be disabled in Settings. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google AdMob (Google LLC) — in-app banner advertising. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Apple Inc. — if you install via the App Store, Apple processes your download and any in-app purchases. Privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Google Play (Google LLC) — if you install via Google Play, Google processes your download. Privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Each provider has its own privacy policy and is required to provide a level of data protection equivalent to applicable law.
6.2 Legal Requirements
- When required by law, regulation, or court order;
- To protect the rights, privacy, safety or property of Pixip or its users;
- To enforce our Terms of Service.
6.3 Business Transfers
In the event of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change and any choices you may have.
7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data:
- Encryption in Transit: All network requests use HTTPS/TLS.
- On-Device Storage: Settings and counters are stored using the operating system's standard, sandboxed preference storage; only the Salah app on the same device can read them.
- No Server-Side Profiles: We do not maintain a user database. There is no account to be breached.
- Crash Monitoring: Firebase Crashlytics is used to detect and fix app crashes.
8. Your Rights and Choices
8.1 In-App Controls
- Disable Notifications: Turn off prayer reminders globally or per-prayer in Notifications.
- Disable Anonymous Analytics: Turn off “Share anonymous usage data” in Settings.
- Disable Personalized Ads: Turn off “Personalized ads” in Settings (you will still see non-personalized ads on the free tier).
- Revoke Location Permission: Open your device's app settings and disable location for Salah.
- Reset Dhikr Counters: Tap the reset icon on the Dhikr screen.
8.2 Deletion
Because Salah stores all your data on your device, you can delete it instantly by uninstalling the app or by clearing the app's storage in your device settings. Since we do not maintain server-side accounts, there is nothing further for us to delete on our side. If you have questions, write to pixip@pixip.tech.
8.3 GDPR / KVKK Rights
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Türkiye, you may have additional rights under GDPR or KVKK (Law No. 6698 on the Protection of Personal Data), including the right to access, correct, restrict, port, or object to processing of your personal data. Because Salah does not store personal data on our servers, most of these rights are exercised on-device by uninstalling or by changing in-app toggles. To raise a request directed at our processing (e.g. AdMob personalized-ads consent), email pixip@pixip.tech with subject “Privacy Request — Salah”.
9. App Permissions
- Location (When in Use): optional — used only on-device for the qibla compass and (if you allow it) for auto-detecting your city.
- Notifications: optional — required only if you turn on prayer reminders.
- Internet: required — to fetch prayer times from Diyanet, send anonymous crash reports and load ads.
- App Tracking Transparency (iOS only): optional — controls whether AdMob can read your IDFA for personalized ads.
10. Children's Privacy
Salah is suitable for users of all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. We rely on Apple's and Google's age-rating systems and on the platform-level controls (such as Family Sharing and parental controls) to manage minors' use. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
11. International Data Transfers
Anonymous crash reports and aggregate analytics may be processed by Google Firebase servers outside your country of residence (typically in the United States or the European Union). We rely on Google's standard contractual clauses and other approved transfer mechanisms to safeguard such transfers.
12. Data Retention
- On-Device Data: kept until you uninstall the app or clear its storage.
- Crash Reports: retained by Firebase Crashlytics for up to 90 days, then deleted.
- Aggregate Analytics: retained by Firebase Analytics for up to 14 months, then deleted.
- Legal Requirements: some data may be retained longer if required by law.
13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, by an in-app notice. Your continued use of Salah after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
14. Contact Information
15. Governing Law
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Türkiye, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. For users located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, applicable mandatory provisions of local law (such as the GDPR) continue to apply.
This Privacy Policy was last updated on April 28, 2026.
